PDF filename changes when downloading from Rise
Hi there,
We have noticed that when downloading a pdf document (from the pdf multimedia block) the filename of the downloaded document is different than the filename of the document when it is in Rise. See attachment for screenshots. Is this supposed to happen? If so, what is the rationale in changing the filename? We would really appreciate it, if someone can shed some light on this for us. Thank in advance and have a wonderful day!
Hi everyone! We fixed the issue in Rise 360 where extra characters were added to attachment block file names. Please have a look, and let us know if you have any further trouble with your attachment blocks!

I am truly amazed by the non-sense staff's responses to an old and critical problem. The rename of all assets (pdf, png, etc) is generated in the Export phase by Rise and does NOT depend of what LMS, browsers, etc. is used.
Just look at the “assets” folder in the exported course to understand.
It is clearly a feature of Rise360, probably to uniquely identify each asset, even if loaded with the same name, but in the case of pdf downloaded files it causes obvious and big problems for users.
Why does Articulate not give a SERIOUS answer to this problem and keep asking useless things, while knowing very well the cause?
Hi there Amber!
I've seen this, as well. It looks like it also happens with other file downloads, like PNG files. I'm not totally certain on the rationale behind the extra characters added to the file name, so I've reached out to my team for their expertise. In the meantime, is this causing issues for your learners?

Hi Alyssa,
Thank you for your reply. We are just in the process of converting our courses over to Rise and it is already causing issues for the people who are reviewing and verifying the courses, so I imagine it will also cause difficulties for our learners as well.
I completely understand, Amber. Thanks for that context. I'll pop back in here as soon as I have more information to share!
Also, it looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email! No worries, this Peek video will show you how to remove it. :)

Haha, oops, replied from my email instead of viewing the post and responding :) But thanks for the instructions on how to remove it, super helpful!!
Hi there Amber! I wanted to let you know I've been chatting about this issue with my team, and we're looking into a solution to remove those extra characters from the beginning of the file names. Thanks again for bringing it to our attention! ☺️

Hey Alyssa! Just ran across this post and we seem to be having the same problem. This is our first Rise course being uploaded on to our LMS. See the attached image - this error is for an actual stock photo in Rise from the library - seems that Rise added extra characters and now the image path is too long. Any suggestions?
Thanks for chiming in, David! I haven't seen this error message before, so I'm glad you brought this up. Did this error pop up while uploading the output to your LMS?

Hi Alyssa. Having the same issue with extra characters being added to pdf's. Do you have an update on if/when this will be fixed?

Hi do you have any workarounds for this. Having the same issues trying to link adobe presenter elearning modules from our intranet. . Can you let tell me how to embed the link in articulate so it does not give the error message.

Does anyone know how to link back to a file no file share?
