Storyline 360 - read-only error

Hi

I am converting a course to HTML5 but when I come to publish it is saying 'Storyline output is read only, being used by another process or you do not have the proper security permission to access this resource'.

Does anyone have any advice please?

thanks

Debbie

  • Hi Deborah,

I'm sorry to hear this error is coming up for you! As a quick check, can you verify if your file is saved on your local drive? Here are a few tips you can try:

    1. Save a copy of the file to your desktop and rename the file. Then try to open it.
    2. After step 1, open a blank project file, then choose File->Import->Storyline to import the slides. Then try to open it.

If you're still unable to get the file going, our team may be able to provide some additional guidance, so feel free to connect with us using the link below!

    SUBMIT A CASE.

      Anyone have any other suggestions?

check the LAST char of the couse title - there are no multiple dots or spaces allowed anymore

  • Glad to hear it, Debbie. Thanks for the update.

It looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.

I was having the same problem and found a space at the end of the course title. That fixed it. Thanks Jurgen

  • Hi Eva,

So sorry to hear you're experiencing this as well. I understand how frustrating that can be.

I see you've opened a case and you are working with my colleague Lejan. You're in great hands!

We'll continue the conversation over in your support case.

    Have a great start to 2023! 🎉

I am having this problem trying to publish to Word. None of the suggestions seem to be fixing the problem. Is there something else I can do to make it work?

      Hello Maggie,

I'm sorry to hear that you're also encountering this behavior. I understand that you are working on your local drive and have ensured that there is no space at the end of the course title.

To troubleshoot further, can we check with your IT department to see if the *.doc version is not blocked? Please note that Storyline's Publish to Word feature currently utilizes the *.doc format. If it is not blocked and the issue persists, can you share your Storyline file with us so we can look at possible causes within the file? You may also share it privately by sending it along in a support case. We'll delete it when we're done.
