I used to be able and Copy/Paste lines of text with in-line images included to create a tab that had text, than an image, followed by more text, etc... I can't seem to do this any longer and I have an update to a course that needs this functionality. Is there a workaround or any news on why this doesn't work any longer? It just pastes the text and none of the images.

Yes, it's no longer possible to do this.
It was actually a bug that allowed you to do this.
