Rise Development Environment
Nov 23, 2016
I had my first opportunity to check out Rise yesterday. It looks nice, and straight forward to use. I like that the output fits on so many devices so well, and that it allows for scrolling on the devices.
My biggest concern is the development environment. Since this is entirely web based, and in the cloud, it seems to me that there is a security concern. Most companies that I've worked for would not like their content development on someone else's equipment, and so readily available via the cloud interface. I know that the cloud model is the big thing right now, but for many security conscious organizations, it isn't always the best way to go.
It would be nice if there was a development environment where we could develop "Rise" type content from the local PC. For now, I think I'm going to have to stay with Storyline.

Hey Dave - thanks for the feedback. Yes, Rise is web-based just like Salesforce.com and online banking.
In fact we use bank-level security and encryption to protect your data.

Hi Adam,
Thank you, this is good to know. I will share this with management and IT teams to see if this is sufficient to satisfy their requirements.
Is it possible to download your projectfile like in VideoScribe (also cloud-based), so you have your masterfiles for future use if you e.g. are several teammembers that could work on the same project during time?
Hi Dorte - you can certainly download your output files.
We are also adding a collaborators feature so teams can work on the same course at the same time.
Hi Adam - Where can I find this feature? Or is it only in a team version of Rise?
It doesn't exist yet Dorte. That's what I mean by we will be adding it. :-)
Oh - thanks :-) But how do we get our projectfiles from a trial version to subscribed versions for a 3 person team? Is that not possible?
Good question Dorte.
So you'll purchase a 3-person team account. And then from the Teams Console, add the account that currently has that course in the trial.
When we add the collaborators feature later, you'll add those other team members to the course from within Rise.
Just wondering whether it's possibly to use VideoScribe files in Rise? We save our VideoScribe files in Windows Media format and I can't seem to upload them into Rise.
Hi Will,
A WMV file should work in Rise, are you seeing an error message when you try to upload there? Could you let us know what that says?
