I have created lessons in RISE and exported to SCORM and loaded in Blackboard. The lessons run fine except when clicking on external links. The external links open in the same windows and kicks the user out of RISE with no back button on the browser to return. I tried to search for a similar issue, but could not find. Is there a fix for this??
I'm having the same problem. In preview, links open in a new window as expected. Once imported into Bb, the links open in the same window with no way to get back to Rise. Help? I need them to open in a new window.
Ella, Beth The easiest way to solve this issue is to open the scorm file in a new window - this takes the RISE course outside the security of Blackboard and then the links should work
No problem - just to clarify - if you add the RISE course as SCORM - and then on the availability page - you set the advanced options (its a yes/no) - this opens more menus - in the launch behaviour set the SCO launch type to new window and the player launch type to frameset - you can still set the grading - this works for us on our Blackboard and records the grade and allows outside links to work
I think we are on the latest version of Blackboard – however I am pretty certain that the functions have been there for a while under the SCROM adding – I don’t know whether this is the issue – but the “Advanced Options” edit SCORM Player Behaviour – only appears once a SCORM file has been added –check one you have already added
Cheers

I am still having the same issue on Blackboard. It launches in a new window but as soon as the link is selected this opens in the same window and there is no way of getting back. Even if I right click it and go to open in a new window the same thing happens? Any advice?

Hi Ella,
Does this behaviour occur when you preview the course in Rise?
No it doesn't.
Just for information, I've just tested it in SCORM Cloud and the external link opens a new window.

unfortunately I don't think that's an option in blackboard and even if it were we would lose the ability to track completion
Please excuse poor formatting, I'm using voice dictation due to an injured hand

Thank you for the details! I will try it and let you know if I have questions.

Unfortunately, I don't see these options. I fear we may have a different version of blackboard. Do you use Ultra? We are still using Learn. :(
