Articulate Presenter causes PowerPoint to crash constantly

Jul 29, 2014

Hi all,

After I updated Articulate to the latest version and install Ms. Office 2013 x64bit. I can no longer user powerpoint to open any file.

I tried to uninstall Articulate Studio, and test powerpoint to see if it's working properly. Yes, indeed. it is. But after I reinstalled Articulate Studio (latest update), the crash occurs again. I can not working on anything right now.

Do you have any solution for it?

Thanks,

Thanks Alanna for checking into the update number you're using. Did you recently install this and that's when you noticed the crashing behavior? Do you receive a particular error message when it crashes? Are you experiencing the crash while working in Powerpoint but not using any of the items on the Articulate tab or once you've clicked on the Articulate tab?

You may want to look at going through the repair steps here for presenter as something may have occurred during your recent install of the Presenter update. Additionally another known reason for a crash is when Kapersky internet security is installed.

If you continue to experience the crashing behavior, I'd ask for you to connect with our Support engineers so that we could gather a bit more information about your system and anything else that may be interfering with the behavior.

I am getting the same errors as those above.  I have the latest Articulate version, have installed all the other software the unusual errors topic advises and the Articulate tab freezes PowerPoint 13 when it is clicked.  I can open quiz maker without PowerPoint but if i click on it within the ribbon PowerPoint freezes.

I have a new Windows 8 machine. During install of Articulate I get "Error 1325.Favorites_AV is not a valid short file name.".  This is the only issue I can see that may cause the PowerPoint to crash. Like above some of the time PowerPoint will not even open anymore (unless I un install articulate)

Hi Gareth,

Thanks for reaching out here. Did you also go through the steps in this article for when Articulate Presenter ribbon is not responding? If you've already done those steps and the other ones mentioned above and are still having difficulty  I'd suggest working directly with our Support team so that they can take a better look at your set up.

I have another question!

I used to use presenter 7 and then 9 and now I have 13. I have created my
first course that I want to upload to my college Blackboard site for my
students to view. I used to use the player file and put it in my dropbox.
Now I can't find the player file and I need a url to post. I have the
option of attaching any of the choices below (under build content). I don't
need to track this and there is no quiz. I published the course to the web
and I'm not sure which of the formats to use. What's the easiest way to do
this?

Hi Alanna,

It sounds like you have figured this out - but I did want to point to the article on publishing for LMS within Presenter.  You'll want to upload the entire contents of the published output. If your LMS requires that you identify a single launch file after you've uploaded your content, the file to point to is index_lms.html for SCORM/AICC content or presentation.html for Tin Can API content.
