Mobile App Deployment
Aug 28, 2014
Our company has issued iPads to all of our pilots, and we are currently publishing for Mobile App Deployment to fully utilize the iPad initiative.
We are however struggling with the Articulate Studio '13 product to natively run in offline mode flawlessly.
We are noticing that when publishing in SCORM 1.2 HTML 5, which all LMS platforms support for offline learning, we are running into a consistent issue across a range of LMS platforms.
On Saba's, Cornerstone's and on SumTotal's Mobile App our Articulate Published modules are not running properly.
The modules load, however it seems that the narration/ audio never seems to load. The module in turn consistently tries to load the audio, which it never does, thus forcing each slide to endlessly loop.
We are using Studio '13 Update 3.
I know that we initially tested in Studio '13 Update 1, whereby we publishing to HTML 5, Articulate App and Offline learning, as in Update 1, there was a flaw where the Articulate App was never prompted to launch, thus we were able to utilize all the great settings enable in this mode, which enabled us to successfully launch a module in offline learning without any of the above issues.
Has anyone experienced this too? And were they able to over come this?
Does Articulate plan to update their publishing settings to extending the offline learning function outside of their own App?
If you select to publish to HTML 5, Articulate App/ Offline Learning, everytime to launch the module in your LMS's App the module will force to open the Articulate App and because you have not uploaded the content into Articulate the module will not load.

Hi Matt!
You can check out our system requirements here, but viewing support is currently:
Flash:
Flash Player 10 or later, and one of the following browsers:
HTML5:
Apple iOS: Articulate Mobile Player version 2.12 or later in Apple iOS 6.0 or later on iPad
As far as Articulate plans, I do not have any information to provide, but you are always welcome to submit your feature requests here.
I have re-upload a new version published using Articulate Studio '13 Update 1. You can clearly see that the modules functions as authored, where as when publishing using Update 3, the module does not function as authored.

Further to this, we are fully within the technical requirements as you have mentioned above; we are deploying for iPad Safari iOS7+.
And to further reiterate my point above.
We have been testing Articulates content on some of the major LMS players worldwide: SumTotal, Saba, Cornerstone, ExpertusOne and Net Dimensions to name a few and we are experiencing the same issues on all platforms.
Thus I just want to clarify that what we are experiencing is a 'normal' behaviour due to Articulate limitations and to have this issue rectified we would have to create a 'feature request'?
Good Morning, Matt.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the videos you provided do not appear to show you launching your course in Mobile Safari on the iPad. It seems to me that you may be launching your course in one of the third-party Apps that you mentioned above.
To reiterate: At this time, there are two (and only two) supported environments for viewing content on an iPad:
Right now, we do not support playback of Storyline content in third-party iPad Apps.
This is not storyline content it was published using Presenter Studio '13.
But thank you for clarifying that Articulate does not support any third party LMS vendor mobile app. We may have to re-evaluate our authoring tools.
Hi,
Is this info still current that Articulate does not support any third party LMS vendor mobile app?
I was asked to test mobile content on SumTotal mobile app, and I would like to verify this before trying anything.
Hi Yao! Yes, this is true.
Thanks, Leslie!
