Complete course displays a score of 0% in LMS

Apr 09, 2019

Hello,

We are just transitioning to Litmos for our LMS provider. All of our eLearning courses are Complete/Incomplete and don't have scores. When users complete eLearining courses in Litmos, the courses mark as complete, but they display a score of 0% (see attachment). This is confusing our users. Our previous LMS did not do this.

Is there any workaround for this? I contacted Litmos, and they told me that this was not something I could change in their LMS, that I had to go to Articulate for an answer.

Even though my courses are incomplete/complete, can I set them so they also report a score to the LMS?

Thank you!

Lindsay

Hey Lindsay,

Thanks for letting us know that you're running into an issue with learners getting a zero unexpectantly.

You mentioned that the course does not have scores. Is there a Graded Result Slide or a Survey Result Slide in the course?

Do you experience a similar result when testing the course inĀ SCORM Cloud or is this issue limited to your LMS?

Hi,
I am experiencing the exact same issue. Opened a ticket to Litmos, we'll see what they answer.

Context:

  • Our course is just a 2 slide-module, NOT A QUIZ
  • Our last slide contains a "Complete Course" trigger set to "Completed/Passed"
  • We configured the tracking options with "Using triggers"
  • We configured he reporting option to complete/incomplete
  • Litmos shows "0% My score" although the course is 100% completed
  • Tried with both Scorm 1.2 and Scorm 2004 4th generation, same results
  • Tried with both options selected: "Using triggers" + "when the learner has viewed 100% of slides" or even with "50 % of slides", same results

I created another module with Adobe Captivate and I don't have the issue...

I guess there is something wrong with the way Storyline360 is configuring the manifest: the module seems to be considered as a quiz whereas it is not a quiz.

Thanks,

Anne-Sophie

SCORM Cloud is a good thing to try. We use it a lot.

I hope Litmos gets back to you in a timely manner. We've cases where they either didn't respond or it took several days.  And, if/when they do respond, you'll probably get a link to an article that has no relevance to your question. Our new LMS provider gets back to us (in person) within the hour. Sorry, I realize I'm not helping.

We've moved to a new LMS but we had the 0% issue with Litmos. It's like buying a dog with three legs, you just learn to live with the Litmos issues. We loved Litmos in the beginning but not since they were acquired. Twice as much $$$ and not competitive with other vendors.

Hi Rob,

Can I ask which publishing settings you are using when publishing your course? If you're tracking by course completion only, or there is no quiz in your Storyline 360 course, these could cause the score of your course to record a 0 in your LMS, since there is no quiz to record. One way to test if the behavior is LMS-specific is to test in SCORM Cloud

If the issue is only happening in Litmos, I'd recommend using Anne-Sophie's approach and reaching out to their LMS support team. If you can replicate the behavior in SCORM Cloud, please open a case with our support team here so we can look at your project file.
