Course functionality when published on different computers

I have an ongoing issue with certain courses within our curriculum, where they  are not working quite right or at all on second publishing/posting. It seems the first time I post/publish the course it works fine, but if i have to make adjustments in the course and republish/repost in the same course bucket, the course has issues and the quiz doesn't work at all -- it has weird background that doesn't exist anywhere in my course, the users can't select quiz answers to progress through the quiz, images are skewed, etc.  I find I have to open a new bucket on our LMS and put the course there.  The oddity is that this only occurs on courses I publish/post.  My team mates don't have this issue, they seem to have no problem republishing and reposting as needed repeatedly and the courses work just fine - including our counterparts overseas.

I've checked all of my Storyline 2 settings against my team mates' settings and they match.

We can't recreate the issue in Stage or Production and our first hint of an issue is when users contact us to let us know they are having issues.  LMS is custom.

Has anyone faced this issue, and did you find a solution?

Hi Kristine,

Thanks for reaching out about this. It sounds like this is a tough one to nail down, especially since you can't recreate the problem in stage or production.

What LMS are you using? Have you reached out to their support team to get any insight from their end?

I might also suggest testing the same procedure in SCORM Cloud to see if the problem happens there.

Thanks for the response.

In answer to the question, our LMS is custom and unfortunately we have no company to reach out to for support.

The three courses I can recall in the past year or so with the issue I uploaded to SCORM and the issue did not appear there either.

Do you know if Storyline 2 corrupts the courses somehow hence the issue we've seen? I've had corruption on my courses before, but that was total corruption where I had to rebuild the course from scratch.

Any other ideas?

Hi Kristine,

It doesn't sound like Storyline 2 is corrupting your file, considering this problem only happens when you update or overwrite the course, and only from your LMS (not SCORM Cloud). Also, if your file were corrupt, you would notice issues before publishing. 

From here, let's try and narrow down a common environment that could be causing issues. Next time you hear a report about this, let us know which browser and version the learner was using. We'll be standing by – and if we can find a trend, that will help us nail down what’s going on here!
