I'm using a couple of fun fonts in a SL course that I'm building. One in particular, Baveuse, shows up just fine in SL when I'm building the course but, when I preview it, the font doesn't render correctly. See the screen shots below. Any idea why?
Just wondering if the issue with 'century gothic' has been rectified? This is our corporate font and I am required to use it in my courses.
I have created my theme templates and for some reason the formatting appears perfectly fine on layers, but NOT on the main slides as per the following screenshots. Both are set to the parameters assigned to "Body" theme font.
I am working with Storyline 2 Update 9 1605.1919, Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks for reaching out here. Our team is aware that there are still some font kerning/spacing issues, specifically with Century Gothic, but we'd like to take a look at some additional sample files in terms of how your slide size is set up, font size, etc. Can you send along your project file to our Support Engineers here?
If the font doesnt look like it should when you preview but you have the right font selected in Storyline. I found out that highlighting the text and choose the font from the popupwindow often helps.
Hi, I am trying to use an OpenType font in the player. When I preview in Storyline, it looks fine. When I publish, the Flash output uses the correct font (but a darker color?). And the HTML5 output (which is what I need) is defaulting to Helvetica, and not the font I've chosen. I am including a side-by-side screenshot of the Flash vs. HTML5 output. Left is Flash (correct font, wrong color), and right if the HTML output (incorrect font).
Is this a custom player you built with the SDK, or did you build this in Storyline's normal player set up? Are you able to share a copy of it here with us so that we could take a look?
Using the normal player. I am including the storyline, output files and font. I'm using a mostly transparent player (besides the menu and navigation bar), with a background image. I modified the story_html5.html css and added an "img" folder.
Thanks - can you send the .story file and the player as described here?
As for the modifications you made to the HTML5 output - those are items and elements I won't be able to support. So I'll check the basic set ups once you're able to share those.
Thanks Jacqui - custom fonts won't come through and that's why I didn't see it - I would have to have the font installed. Either way, I'm seeing the color change in the HTML5 output when I use open sans - and it sounds like you saw the correct font color in HTML5? My HTML5 defaulted to the standard black, even though Flash showed the font color I had selected of dark blue. There are a few known issues with the font colors in the HTML5 output in the player - but I haven't seen it specific to a font style change. I'm checking with a few other colleagues as well - so I'll be in touch once I have additional information.
Hi, Jacqui -- Thanks for reaching out, and as Ashley is out of the office on business, I thought I might suggest that you contact our Support Engineers directly for additional investigation of the issue you have reported. Here is the form by which you can do so, and thanks for your patience!
I seem to have found the cause for one of my issues, which may also be the cause for some of you...
If %variables% are referenced in your text box the box will revert to an open sans font (as per my previous screenshot) upon preview / publishing despite appearing normal in the development platform.
I have found a work around is to add the %variable% / reference in its own stand-alone text box and lay this over the text box. This way both retain the documents default format. It is far from ideal but is a workaround.
I've also submitted this as feature request for improvement, I've now found it is mentioned a number of times throughout the community in different places.
Hi, Kelly -- Thank you for submitting your feature request, and for sharing the workaround you have discovered here, as it may assist others who are experiencing this issue, as well.
I am experiencing a similar issue (I think). I am using the Futura Std. Medium font and despite bolding it during building, the preview and publish modes do not show the bold. Thoughts? This is a standard font, too...
Hi Logan! Are you utilizing the latest update to Storyline 2, which is Update 9 currently? Did you download this font to your computer as it's not a standard font in Storyline for me. Do you experience difficulty with any other font?
I am using the latest version. The font is standard on my Mac, wonder why? At this point, I tried open sans and the bold worked fine for that font. I guess it's a font-specific issue...there are no fixes at this point that you're aware of?

Thank you Ashley,
I have now sent this off to your support engineers for advice / review :)
Thanks so much Kelly - and we'll take a look and be in touch!

Thank you Andreas, It was a pain in the neck to do... but it worked within the program.
Sadly, when previewed or published all the formatting is lost again :(
I would happily change the typefaces but that would stray from our styleguides.
Hi Kelly!
Looks like you are working with Jonathan on our support team (00814044). Just wanted to let you know that we are following along as well.

Here is the player export and storyline file. Thanks.
Thanks Jacqui - I'm taking a look now. What font are you using?
INFINITIBETA0C-LIGHT.OTF (was included in the previous zip I posted)

Hi, any word on this? It seems that no matter what font I choose, it publishes as Arial Black for the buttons and Helvetica bold for the top bar.

Hi Logan - thanks for the details - I'm not on a Mac, so let me get someone to check on that one. I'll get back to you soon.
Thanks, Leslie. I should note, I am using a Mac, but obviously running SL2 via Parallels and Windows 10.
