Have These SL2 Bugs Been Fixed in SL3?

Jul 07, 2017

I'm thinking about upgrading from Storyline 2 to Storyline 3 and have looked over the feature comparison list. But it doesn't list anything about some rather important issues I've run into in the past using SL2. Can anyone tell me whether or not the following issues have been resolved in SL3?

All great questions, Jennifer! Let's tackle them one by one.

  • Kerning issue with Arial font: This is fixed in Storyline 3. I published the Storyline 2 file from the linked thread with Storyline 3--you can take a peek at it here
  • Formatting not saving for text entry box text (I see that it was fixed in SL2, want to make sure it hasn't been re-reported for SL3): This was fixed in Storyline 2 Update 10, and it doesn't happen in Storyline 3.
  • Variables lost/renamed when importing one project into another: This works in Storyline 3!
  • Matching drop-down questions automatically filling in the first answer option rather than displaying --Select-- on certain browsers: This is working in Storyline 3. Here's a sample file for you to test.
  • Can the player button text (Submit, Next, etc.) be set to be different on different slides? This isn't a built-in feature of Storyline 3, but I will definitely bring it up with the team again. It's helpful for us to know how in-demand this feature is.
  • Can the initial "0" value be removed from Numeric Entry questions? (Without using workarounds): The Numeric Entry question defaults to a blank field in Storyline 3. Here's a sample!
  • Has the way SL handles suspend data been updated? Storyline handles suspend data in the same way for all versions of Storyline.

I hope this is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions. ☺️
