Low memory

Sep 24, 2012

Hi all,

just got a new PC.

More memory, faster....

I transfered my work from my old machine onto this new one. And now I can open my SL project, modify it but it seems to be running out of memory, which it didn't on my old one.

Any ideas?

How much RAM do you have?

Wonder how much junk is running in the background as unnecessary processes or services.  Unfortunately, optimizing processes and services is not something for the faint-hearted, though I'm not sure that would help or not.  Sometimes tools like System Mechanic can help optimizing things there for the non-techies.

I have a fairly new HP desktop with 16 gig RAM, a speedy processor, a SSD and regular HD, and Windows 7 64-bit--and I work at getting unnecessary processes and services from running.

May be anecdotal but I'm not getting a lot of memory problems lately--then again, my courses are very short--usually 5-15 minutes.

Hi Gerry,

I've just received a new PC.

64bit with 8GB running windows 7 enterprise.

All background stuff (to which I had access) has been kicked out. Still I'm running into memory problems. I know SL is a 32bit application capable of running on a 64 bit machine.

The file that I'm working on is about 0.5GB. I have submitted a case t Articulates helpdesk.

Cheers

Geert
