Nice, Jerson. Last I checked I wasn't able to crack open the character files (I may have focused on the photographic ones which look like they're still a no-go). Looks pretty straightforward.
Thanks everyone. I'll be posting up some info on how to do this soon. I worked on this about a few hours spread across a couple weeks trying to figure this out so things are a little fuzzy. Once I make sure I have everything correct I'll post it up. As a note, Articulate wanted me to post that since is something that they didn't provide, we are on our own as far as support.
@Steve - I tried the same thing with the photos and it didn't work. I couldn't even crack open the file. The images themselves are pretty straightforward but the database that has to be built is a little confusing at first (and tedious).
Yeah, the config file is a little crazy. If I had a bit more time I'd experiment to see how many columns you can get away with. I'd imagine you could build your own photo characters using the same method just dropping the acp into the other folder and using PNG's with alpha.
Giving me some ideas for a ton of things. More than just characters. This could work for any type of reusable visual asset.

This is a fabulous way of extending/personalising SL to work in a way that benefits "us". I wonder how long it will be before this becomes part of standard functionality?
I understand Articulate wanting to make money selling their own libraries, but this is a feature that should be standard. I'd love to know why it isn't.
I think this is great and would live to see it as a standard feature in SL but I can think of about a 1,000 (no make that a million ) reasons why something like this was not in the first release of a product of this magnitude.
Articulate really made it impossible for third party companies/people to be able to expand on storyline. Almost like they didn't even plan on doing it. I think it hurts the product more than it helps them.
It's truly a shame that you cannot use your own photo characters in Storyline other than as regular pictures. The Articulate characters do not meet our needs.
thanks for sharing the demo. Can't wait to see how this is done and I agree with most of the comments; SL should allow others to dev/import their own character sets.
I, too, would like to know how this was done. I have some custom characters I've created that I could build in this fashion if the capability was there.
So I've been working on creating a full custom character with many poses. Here is my work in progress so far. Critiques appreciated. I plan on making it fully customizable like the current set of illustrated characters in Storyline.

Heya, Jerson
This has been on my To-Do List for a while, but I just haven't had the time. I'm well keen to find out how you did it!
Eagerly awaiting...

Love your work Jerson!!
Awesome.
@steve, interesting idea about dropping the illustration folders into the photo folders. Going to have to try it out and see if it works.

If I was a SL Dev I would be all over this.....

Second what Bruce said.

Does anyone have any free characters to share that can be used on Presenter?
Thanks a bunch.
I found some in the downloads/graphic section if anyone is interested.
Thanks
