Issues with importing a course

Feb 21, 2017

I've been having serious issues with one particular course I've built on Articulate Storyline. When importing to our LMS there seems to be an issue and it causes an old version of the course to appear rather than the new updated version.

I have been told by our LMS that it could be an Articulate problem so I thought I'd see if anyone else has ever had this problem?

I've tried a number of things to solve this but nothing seems to work. I have been onto previous discussions talking about taking out the tick out of the 'launch page' option and checking if the imsmanifest.xml file is showing. I've even just uploaded a completely different course to check if importing any course was an issue, which it isn't.

Hi there Marianne,

Thanks for posting your question here in the forums. Sorry you've run into this issue with your LMS! I understand that LMS issues can be quite frustrating.

Have you tried troubleshooting your problem course with SCORM Cloud? It might help you get to the bottom of where the problem lies, either with Storyline or with your LMS. Here's an article on how to troubleshoot your LMS problems with SCORM Cloud. If everything works fine with SCORM Cloud, then the issue is most likely caused by your LMS. Also, you might want to do a search in the forums for your specific LMS you're using and find out if others have run into the same issue, and if yes, how they resolved it.

Hope this is helpful! :)

Thanks Nicole. I've uploaded the course on SCORM Cloud and its working how its meant to. At least I can go back to my LMS colleague and say that its definitely working. We think its the LMS but they had come back to say its an Articulate Storyline issue. I've searched but no one seems to use our specific LMS. I am hoping that they will take responsibility as its affecting our most popular course.

Thanks again.

Hi again Marianne - well I'm glad to hear that its working properly with SCORM Cloud. I know it can be really frustrating for our customers when the LMS provider says its the authoring tools fault, and the authoring tool says its the LMS's fault... but at least SCORM Cloud helps up get to the bottom of where the issue really lies. I really hope you're able to work with your LMS provider to get this issue resolved and get the course up and running. Best of luck to you! :)
