Tutorial: Generating Random Words or Phrases in Storyline
Have you ever wanted Storyline to display a random word or phrase? I don't mean just randomly popping up and saying "whale" or "can't cut the mustard", but displaying a word or phrase randomly from a list that you prepared earlier.
Maybe you want to quiz people on the definition of some words? Or check if they understand the meaning of a phrase?
Or perhaps you are creating a language based course and you'd like to randomise the words that they are practising?
In this tutorial, we will look at how to randomly pick a word or phrase from a predefined list.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or are stuck with implementing any of this. I'm happy to help where I can.

Hi Matthew, thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your post, as usual you make learning JS much easier.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Joanne!
Hi Matthew, I made a game for your FAQ 'Can you make a game in Storyline where I can play rock, paper, scissors against the computer?' Well, you can now answer 'Yes, one silly designer created one by using the code.'. Hey hey~

Good one Joanne! Thanks.
Have you considered adding a scoreboard? It would make the interaction more sticky if it kept track of if the user was beating the computer or not.

Hay Matthew, Scordboard is a good idea and I add a leader board as well!
