Hi, everyone!
I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 83, we've included important fixes and new features!
One of the new features we've included:
- Unlock new possibilities for text-to-speech audio. Use speech synthesis markup language (SSML) to adjust the speaking rate, modify pronunciation, emphasize words, add pauses, and more.
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

Hi Alicia!
Thanks for your question! You're not alone--we've seen other requests for the ability to adjust the text-to-speech speed, and we're tracking the popularity of this request. I'll add your feedback to our report!
For now, you can use punctuation, such as commas and semicolons, when you want to insert brief pauses. If you need longer pauses, convert your text to speech, then open the clip in the built-in audio editor and insert silence where it's needed.
We also want to adjust the text-to-speech speed. But where can we request this?
This would also be my request.
It would be very helpfull and time saving if I could be able to finetune the speed of the voice.
I think my students would be able to understand my courses better if I could adjust the speed and articulations of the voice.
I think it is a great feature but not good enough yet.

Thanks for popping in to share your thoughts. As I mentioned to Jaap, this conversation is attached to the feature request so you're in the right place to get any updates :)
I wanted to be sure to welcome you to E-Learning Heroes too!
Up vote! It would also be great if the voices responded to punctuation like question marks, or emphasized bold words, etc.
Thanks Colleen! You're in the right place for updates when we have them to share :)
would love to learn of any updates

I haven't yet upgraded to SL360, but am considering it. Would love the option for learners to adjust playback speed, like they can in many audiobook players, and many web players. (.75x, 1x, 1.25x, etc)
You're in the right place to be included in any updates we have to share regarding this feature, so thanks for chiming in.
I agree. please allow a way to slow down voices in text to speech. Thank you very much for improving the voices so much!
+ 1 on this request
Have a nice day,
I am very new to story line and really enjoying this product. However, is it true, our users cannot change the speed, such as 1x, 2x, etc...?
Hi Julie, that's a great question!
While there isn't a way for learners to change the narration speed, I appreciate you letting us know you have a need for that feature. If we add this functionality to Storyline in the future, we'll let you know!
I agree totally, this is an important feature.
I would like to add my vote for speed functionality in the text-to-speech. Thank you!
Agree, I definitley need the ability to adjust the speed of the text-to-speech.
Thanks Elke, Valerie, and Marci for adding your voices! We are tracking this request, so I appreciate you sharing.
Hi, our small ID team agrees as well. We'd love to see this feature.
Thanks!
Feature request sent. This is a pretty critical need if we are going to make use of the text to speech tool.
My team agrees as well. The computer just reads too fast. This feature would be much more useful if we could control the speed to make the machine sound more human.
Thanks for your candid feedback, everyone! We're listening and sharing your thoughts with the larger team.
The reading is too fast, there needs to be a way to control the speed. Please make sure it is added to the next feature.
I appreciate you letting us know this feature is important to you, Janis. If we add this functionality in the future, we'll share the news with everyone here!
