Sep 23, 2016

Window 10 sent out an update last night and now Storyline 2 no longer displaying HTML5 output in Microsoft Edge.

Any ideas?

I have a course developed in Articulate 360, published in html5, that worked fine in Edge before Christmas, however I have just updated with some new content and now it doesn't load at all in Edge,  I have tested in IE, Chrome, Firefox and all work fine.  The only way I can get it to work in Edge is with flash. I don't want to write scripts that launch different files for different browsers.  Is this a Microsoft problem?

I have a user reporting issues with functionality "When I click Resume, Next, Help nothing happens."

The course is within our LMS, and our at-work users have not reported anything and our applicants like the user who reported above must mostly be using other browsers because I have not had anyone else complain and we have over 100 users a week complete the same set of courses with no issues.

Hey Renee,

Looks like I just responded to a similar post here, but this one may shed a bit more light on the situation.

In Tara's support case, it was identified that the issue is happening when you have a text with shadow applied. This has been logged as a software bug for internal tracking and a report has been filed with Microsoft on this one as well.

I will add this thread to the report.

If you are able to remove any text shadow, you should have a better experience and the other workaround is to view the Flash version of the course. You can follow the steps on how to enable Flash in Microsoft Edge in this Adobe Article.

Hi Leslie,

I would like to report that I had exactly the same issue with Edge crashing when attempting to review an Articulate 360 package.

I removed the shadows on the text that I had on the buttons and it now works fine.

Can you please let us know where the best place is to track this issue and where we can find information to advise us that the issue has been resolved?

Hi Mark,

Sorry you ran into the error too! Our team has this discussion linked to the report filed with our team so we'll post an update here as soon as we can! As long as you're subscribed to receive email notifications (if you see this message in your Inbox then you're good to go) you'll see that note when we post it.

The issue here where Edge can crash when viewing content with text shadows is scheduled for our next update, so as soon as that's released we'll let you know here.

Hello everyone,

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.

The item you'll be interested in is:

We fixed some issues with HTML5 output in Microsoft Edge, including drag-and-drop interactions that wouldn't always work properly and courses that would crash if they had text with shadow effects.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.

Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.

Hey everyone! I'm excited to note that we just released update 3 for Storyline 3! You can view all the new features and fixes here.

One of the fixes addresses an issue where Edge (HTML5 output) would crash if a slide contained a text with shadow.

Here’s where you can download and install the latest version of Storyline 3. Let us know if you have any questions!
