NEW IN STORYLINE 360: Media Library
Jan 22, 2019
Today we released a really exciting new feature for Storyline 360: media library. Now you can manage all the assets for your project in one place.
Use the media library to easily add, remove, replace, reuse, and export videos, audio tracks, and characters. You can even edit files with third-party apps and save changes back to Storyline 360. This is just the first feature we have planned for media library, so be on the lookout for more to come. Enjoy!

Just stumbled into this yesterday after installing updates. Great feature!!!
Great update!
Great feature!
I may be getting ahead of myself, but I noticed in the release video what appears to be collapsible dropdown buttons in the triggers pane as well... Would be incredibly useful for our projects where we use LOTS of triggers. Can we expect this feature to hit anytime soon?
I heard someone mention at a trade fair it was a feature they were looking into. I sure hope it comes, back then it was probably just on the drawing board.
But this media library finally makes me think that Marketing have received their pound of flesh and now some attention can be paid to the Quality of Life features that speeds up workflows and differentiates the Pro products from the wannabes in this market. (Im looking at you, Camtasia)
Good eye! We're working on some new opt-in workflow options that'll help folks customize their triggers panel. Stay tuned for more to come!
I am reworking a course now from 2017, and I just LOOOVE the replace image function of the media library. So many edit clicks saved.
This is a great feature and I love the demo above. My question is about an effect you used in the demo. At the 27 second mark, how did you enlarge the number 2? This isn't the Zoom Region effect and it doesn't appear to be the Grow or Shrink animation effect. I see this was used several times in the demo and would like to use it. I normally add a red text box to highlight areas on a demo and want to try this.
I saw the same effect when I watched it. You could get the same effect using a shape behind with a shrink/grow animation, I suspect though the effect in this case has been added in the video post production.
Great new addition!

OMG. Project-wide image update = Jackpot. Thanks!
F非常好,这个功能非常实用。
Nice! Really nice!
This is a great update! Such a time saver! Thank you!
Is the Media Library capable of holding items such as custom markers or buttons? For my company's courses, we have specific fonts, colors, states, etc. that are standard across all of our courses. From reading the release information it seems like the Media Library should be able to hold this content, but I am struggling to find out how to do it.
Hi there,
I thought about doing this as a new discussion but this thread seems to be quite active - please let me know if I should separate it.
I work a lot sending files back and forth with a client who only has Storyline 3. Up until now, by avoiding the content library and 360 features we've had no problems. With this latest update ALL projects I work on in Storyline 360 will not open at all on Storyline 3. Two separate files are doing this and we're at a loss. I need my client to be able to open these and edit them after I finish my end of the project. I've changed nothing in my workflow other than having updated to the latest update recently (I have always kept up with updates so this isn't a big jump).
HELP!!
PS - submitted a case with the project attached. case number 01688722
Hello Wendy and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
As you can see in the documentation here, the media library is for images, characters, audio, and video.
For the items you've listed, it seems that a custom template may be just what you are looking for.
Hi Leah,
Thanks for letting us know that you were able to reach out to our support team as well. I can see that Renato is assisting you.
For anyone curious about the compatibility, this documentation covers the basics.
I sure wish icons were included!
Hi Melanie,
If having icons included would enhance your experience, would you be up for logging a feature request? That way our team can track the number of users seeking this type of feature. Thanks!
I like the direction this feature is going. HOWEVER, now when I replace a video asset it renames the file (random numbers and letters) in the timeline to what looks like the eventual compressed file. This is very problematic when trying to replace a file and not knowing what the original file name was.
Hi CK1,
What version of SL are you using and could you tell me the exact steps you took? I'm using 25.18009 but I haven't been able to reproduce the bug when replacing videos.
I just updated to the latest version, 25.18009.0. It now shows the original filename along with the local path...this is better. HOWEVER, now when I replace a file (video), it keeps the same name as before and doesn't update it with the new filename. Yet, the most recent file is there.
Hi CK1,
I'm still not seeing that same behavior so I will reach out to you now via email to follow up on this issue!
Great new feature, thanks! I have a team and we use team slides, etc. Is there a capability of sharing the media library with teammates similarly to team slides?
