Announcing Storyline 2 Update 5

May 07, 2015

Hi everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that Storyline 2 Update 5 is now available. This update makes it easier to create accessible e-learning content, improves HTML5 performance, and of course squashes lots of bugs. Read all about it now (or just jump over to the update page).

Enjoy!

Hi,

Brilliant news about the update - we're attempting to create accessible materials so this is fantastic news.  However...  I updated my Storyline 2 with the new Update 5 and it has changed some of my slides in my existing project.  On one slide I have several circles with text over the top that I'm using as multiple selection objects for an interaction.  Previous to the update I previewed the slide and they appeared as intended.  After the update they all come on 'sliding from the left'.  I think I know where it's come from, I may have copied the text from the title (which does slide from the left) and then took off the animation when I first designed it, but I don't know why the update reverted them back to that after I had set them all to have no animations.

Also, on another project it has resized all of my text boxes so that the text now goes over the border on most slides.

I don't know if you can help with this, these are easy enough to change myself but I just thought you and the community should know that existing projects may be affected (in strange ways!) by the update - which, after reading a few of the comments already, this might already be apparent!

Thanks,

Vicki.

Hi Jeff,

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Home tab on the Storyline ribbon and click Player.
  2. Click Colors & Effects on the ribbon.
  3. Enter a value between 75% and 200% in the Player text size field.
  4. Click OK to save the change.

This change only affects Flash output. HTML5 output will still use a player font size of 100%, and the Articulate Mobile Player uses a font size optimized for mobile devices.

Hi Vicki,

We don't have the older updates publicly listed as we want to ensure users are using the latest and greatest as it often includes a number of bug fixes. If there is a particular issue that doesn't work in the latest update, we're happy to discuss that with you and provide an earlier update if needed and we handle all of that offline with our Support engineers here.

Has anyone experienced any issues with the results slide since the most recent update? I suddenly had an issue with continuing the course or even retaking the quiz upon completing a quiz. I had a colleague who has not yet updated open it on his computer, and it works fine for him. We sat down together and went through all the triggers and variables, and couldn't get it to work - except when we used his computer.

Just wondering if there's anyone else out there having trouble with their results slides since the update.

I haven't experienced any of the issues with slides or results that a few people are upset about. I think the first place to start may be to redownload the update and reinstall Storyline just to eliminate a potential file corruption issue.

I'm still hoping that the discrepancies between Flash and HTML5 authoring can be addressed in the near future. I had to remove HTML5 support from our recent project as Storyline it does not support a trigger that submits a quiz number value automatically except using Flash.

Hi Mike,

I haven't heard of any issues that match your scenario here, but I wanted to know if you are testing this within Preview or the published output? If the latter, you'll also want to confirm you're viewing the published output within the intended environment vs. testing it locally.

If you're viewing the preview and it's still misbehaving, you may also want to look at conducting the repair of Storyline as detailed here.

Hi Christian,

Thanks for sharing your experience here in terms of the results slide.

In regards to the issue you mentioned with Flash vs. HTML5 - there are some known discrepancies detailed here and if you're experiencing something else that you'd like us to take a look at we're happy to see your .story file.

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for responding to my SOS. I have tried it both ways - published output as well as preview mode. The result is the same: I cannot proceed upon successful completion or review the quiz. A colleague is able to do both, and he has not yet updated. I did not experience this problem until yesterday. And, yes, I'll send you my file so you can look at it.
