Project is Invalid or Corrupt

Apr 18, 2022

I am brand new to Storyline and the first project I created last Thursday gave me the message "This project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. It may have been created in an earlier version of Storyline." the same day that I created it. So I recreated it last Friday and now I'm getting that message again on the new one I created. I have it saved as Dail_Removing_Decals in a folder on my desktop. Am I saving it incorrectly? I published a Review file of it before saving (https://360.articulate.com/review/content/9830355e-a937-42a7-8854-3f62860eee83/review) and that works, but how can I make any of the changes suggested by the instructor if I can't access the original file? Help!

Also, I already checked the temp folder and for previous versions of the file.

It seems to be my .mov file. It uploads into the project and onto Review 360 just fine, but once you close and reopen, it corrupts the file.

The same issue was noted here https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/file-becomes-corrupted-after-inserting-a-mov-file and here https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/adding-mov-files-into-storyline-causes-file-corruption and here https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/storyline-360-this-project-is-invalid-or-corrupt-and-cannot-be-opened so it seems to be a common problem. Apparently it doesn't have the correct encoding, so now I just have to figure out how to fix that and convert the file to an mp4 instead of mov. Just thought I'd share in case anyone else encounters this problem and stumbles across this thread.

Hi, Ashley!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 63, we’ve included important fixes and new features.

One of the fixes we’ve included is:

Improved how Storyline 360 would generate an error after inserting a large video.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!
