Need help for a Jump and Run Quiz

Hi all,

i hope you can help me. I am trying learn how to built a Jump and Run Quiz in Storyline. I already put in the motion paths and they work fine. But now i have one little problem.

I want the figure to jump against a block an then a new slide appears with a free form Quiz. Once i answer the question and i go to the feedback slide and press the button to return back to the game board slide my figure keeps staying up in the air. i hope you understand what i mean.

In addition to that, when i'm back on the main page and my figure touches the first block, the feedback slide re-appears.

are there any solutions? i can't figure out whats wrong.

I inserted a Review Link for you to check this out.

Thank you and kind regards,

Rebecca

  • Hi Rebecca,

Thank you for sharing the Storyline project. It's very helpful in helping me better understand the problem and make recommendations.

No worries about not mentioning the controls. The course is user-friendly enough for me to easily figure out the keyboard controls most commonly used in gaming. 😊

I applied some changes to the course, as reflected in the attached Storyline file. This approach is one possible way of resolving the issues in the course. Please find the published Review 360 project here, showing the changes. Here are the modifications I made:

       1. I added two new variables.

    Two new variables were added.

       2. I modified the triggers in slide 2.1 Start.

    Trigger modifications for slide 2.1

       3. I added a new trigger in the Correct layer of slide 3.1 Pick One.

New trigger in the Correct layer of slide 3.1 Pick One

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have additional questions regarding my changes!

  • Hello Rebecca,

Thanks for reaching out! I appreciate you sharing a detailed description of the problem and the Review 360 link so that we can see how the interaction works.

I replicated the issue in Review after clicking the right arrow key and the spacebar to jump. When I answered the freeform quiz slide and pressed the button on the feedback slide, I could confirm that the figure stayed up in the air.

Would you be willing to share your Storyline file with us so that our community members can review what you have set up? We may be able to recommend changes in the triggers or object states to resolve the issue.

    Hello Eric,

thank you for your response. Here is the file from Storyline. I just triggered the first block with one question. i hope thats ok?

I'm sorry that i forgot to tell that you should use the arrow keys and space bar on your keyboard. So i'm glad you figured it out :)

    Thank you,

    Rebecca

Hi Eric, thank you so much. I thought about variables but i just didn't know how to set them up. Can i just "copy & paste" the triggers for the other blocks?

      Hi Rebecca,

You're most welcome! Variables are indeed instrumental, especially with interactive slides that involve decision-making.

Yes, you can copy and paste the triggers from the first to the other blocks. Please feel free to make relevant modifications as needed.

      Enjoy your weekend ahead!
