Hi,
The preview functionality suddenly stopped working. It was working in the morning but suddenly the preview of all existing/new storyline projects show show a blank slide, irrespective of whether I preview a slide, scene, or project. Also the audio play function/preview is not working. Attached is a screenshot of what happens when I preview a slide. Also I have reinstalled Storyline 2 as well as flash player. Would be great if you could help.

I take Tim's suggestion, it works! Thanks!
Hi all,
Thanks for reaching out here. This is something that seemed to bubble up over night with a recent release of Flash player and our Support engineers were hard at work on this issue. We've got some updated documentation here and a workaround and we'll keep folks posted on any additional information once we've got information to share.
Hello
Would this trouble explain what I encountered today ?
I started a presentation, and while the preview works flawlessly, if I upload the files online like I usually do so my colleagues can assess the progress, it's all weird with overlap of layers and just not working ? Thank you for your time, Nadège
Hi Nadege,
That doesn't sound like the same issue as detailed here. Are you sharing the published output with them or a copy of the .story file for them to look at? If you'd like us to take a look at the behavior you can share the .story file here with us in the forums or feel free to send along to our Support engineers here.
I'm unable to play slides using the timeline (ie: when not in preview mode.) Does the flash update affect that as well? It doesn't seem like it should, but I don't know.
Hi Melissa! Yes, our QA team has made a note on the issue that it is affecting the preview on the timeline in slide view as well.
Great! Thank you!

Thanks everyone for working so quickly on this. It hit me right in the middle of a major project and I was panicking!
No problem Melissa. Please note that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature, but you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
Unfortunately, the workaround will not work as I cannot rollback my Flash Player to version 20.0.0.228 on my computer - an error message appears stating the older version cannot be installed.
The same problem The preview functionality suddenly stopped working ...i'm working on to resolve it
thanks to every one for kind attention and help
Yup can't preview either and on a tight deadline so will try workaround.
My IT won't let me roll back to previous version of Flash because they say there is a security vulnerability with it. They say that's probably what was worked on in the new version.
Preview is also not working in Storyline 1 on Windows 7 Enterprise. Uninstalling the latest Flash player and then installing the fallback (20.0.0.228 archive) worked. I hope there will be a Storyline fix soon for the latest Flash player.
@the Storyline Team. You should probably put a notice out on this to your users. Preview is a huge part of the design process and there are probably a ton of people freaking out right now that don't know this is the issue.
Hi all,
Thanks for continuing to follow up here and your patience while our team investigates this further. It seems to be an issue within the Adobe Flash update that is affecting more than just Articulate software per the bug report on Adobe's site. The current solution is to rollback the Flash player update and once we have additional information to share in regards to hearing back from Adobe or fixes within Articulate we'll be sure to update folks here and for any open cases associated with this issue.
Unfortunately I cannot rollback the Flash player - I get an error message stating an older version cannot be installed.
Hi Pam,
I did see another user mention in a similar thread the following:
If you go to the Adobe Site and download this uninstaller, you are then able to install and older version. Here is the link:
https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html#main
Perhaps that'll work for you?
Well, this is interesting: As I described earlier, I uninstalled the latest Flash player (20.0.0.267) and then installed the fallback (.228 archive). Unfortunately, the fallback didn't install the browser plug-in; uninstalling the current player deleted the browser plugin and the fallback player version didn't install an older plugin at all. Obviously, I couldn't really run my browsers without Flash. So, I re-installed the latest Flash player. Interestingly, Preview and the Player setup in Storyline works again!
I have since restarted my machine and everything is still OK.
I'm not sure why this is working right now. You would think that re-installing the latest player overwrote the older player. However, it appears that I have two Flash players running on my machine: Adobe Flash Player 20 Active X (this is the older version) and Adobe Flash Player 20 NPAPI (the latest one with the browser plugin). Apparently, these two versions allow both versions to run—the new one providing the browser plugin and the old one working with Storyline.
This isn't the best solution, but it's working for me right now.
I should add that when I re-installed the latest player, I did not uninstall the fallback version. That's how I could tell in my installed programs (Windows 7) that I have two Flash players running.
When I launch a .swf file on my machine, the player only indicates version 20 ("Opens with: Adobe Flash Player 20.0 r0); so, I can't tell which player is really running the .swf file. The browsers definitely have the .267 version plugin.
Having the same issue, just followed the step and rolled back the the Flash version suggested. Still doesn't work now it just freezes when trying to preview. This is why we need 100% html5 output and leave flash in the past.
I tried installing the previous version of flash on windows 7, as instructed in the link above, but the installer quits and says that it isn't the latest version of flash. See attached.
HI,
I have both Storyline 2 and Articulate ‘13; I just opened an Articulate ’13 project and I noticed the issue is happening with it. Is there a “fix” for Articulate ‘13 as well?
Same thing has just happened to me. Can't preview and the voicing and slide I added to an old project won't even save. Will try to fix Flash.
