It’s time to celebrate! Why? Because the jump-to-time trigger in Storyline 360 opens up a whole new world of possibilities for creating custom interactivity like branched scenarios, quizzes—just about anything you can imagine.

One type of interaction it’s great for is interactive videos. That’s because the jump-to-time trigger lets you create buttons that skip ahead to a specific moment in a video or go back a few seconds to review something you didn’t quite grasp:

Interactive videos are just one way to use this awesome new feature. We’re sure you’ll be creating loads of cool new interactions!

Here’s how it works: when you add a new trigger, simply select the jump to time / cue point option from the drop-down list, and choose the point you’d like to jump to. Let’s take a closer look at the different options.

Jump to Time

If you know the exact second you’d like to jump to, select time and then type the second you want to jump to into the box:

Note that you can jump to a specific time on the current slide or any of its slide layers—making this feature even more powerful.

Jump to Cue Point

Cue points are a feature in Storyline 360 that allow you to bookmark a specific moment on the timeline. They’re super useful if you’ve got a lot of objects on a slide and you need to synchronize entrance and exit animations. Check out this article to find out more: Using Cue Points to Sync Animations.

If you’ve inserted cue points onto your slide or slide layer, you use those here. Simply select the cue point you’d like to jump to from the list.

Once again, you can choose from cue points on the current slide or any of its slide layers.

Jump Forward/Backward

You can also jump forward or backward incrementally. To jump forward, simply select forward / backward and type the number of seconds you’d like to jump forward. To jump backward, add a minus sign in front of the number of seconds. Easy peasy!

Jump to Start/End of Timeline

Finally, if you’d like, you can jump directly to the start or the end of the timeline by simply choosing that option in the drop-down list:

It’s as simple as that! For an in depth, step-by-step walkthrough, check out this article: Storyline 360: Jump-to-Time Trigger.
