Thanks to the export feature, translating your course with Storyline 360 has always been easy. In just a few clicks you can export the text of your Storyline 360 course in XLIFF or Word format and translate it yourself or send it to a third party for translation.

But why stop there? We’ve been working on some improvements to our Word export feature that make it even faster and easier to use. Let’s take a closer look at some of the key improvements.

Easy Access to Key Information

One thing you’re going to love about enhanced Word translation in Storyline 360 is that it gives you an easy way to view all the most important information about your project. You’ll find things like the number of scenes, slides, slide layers, strings (text objects), words, and characters. This information not only helps you see the scope of your project, but it’s also useful for obtaining a more accurate quote from translation vendors for the price of localizing your course.

More Context Clues

If you’ve ever done translation, you know that context is everything. A term that’s translated one way in one context might be translated completely differently in another.

Now, you can choose to include a screenshot of each slide and slide layer before the text associated with that slide.

That way, translators can see where that text will appear, making it easier for them to choose the most appropriate translation.

In addition, we’ve added a Type column so translators can easily identify in which type of object the translation appears. For example, a text box, a rectangle, or a button.

You’ll also notice the text on each slide is arranged in the table from top to bottom and left to right, making it easier to translate the text as you’re looking at it in context.

Improved Formatting Preservation

We've also made some improvements to ensure text formatting is preserved when you use the Word export feature for translation—even when you use things like lists and paragraph spacing. This makes for less rework after the translated text is imported. What a timesaver!

Compatible with Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and LibreOffice

You could always use Microsoft Word to translate your Storyline 360 courses, but now that the Storyline 360 export feature uses the .docx format you can use Google Docs and LibreOffice, giving you even more flexibility with your translation process. Hooray for more options!
